The meaning of the expression You Are What You Eat basically means that the food one eats has a bearing on one’s state of mind and health. Healthy eating habits is key to our wellbeing and we all know about it but very few abide by the rules of healthy eating.
Having up to 100 trillion cells in our bodies, to keep healthy we all have to ensure that each one of these cells are constantly supplied with daily nutrients for them to function optimally. The food we eat have major affect on these cells and also on every aspect of our well being-mood, energy level, thinking, sleeping patterns, sex drive, and general health. The junk food you stuff your stomach with is simply going to pull you down physically as well as mentally.
Life without the food is simply unimaginable. So what exactly is healthy eating? Healthy eating is not all about strict dietary practices or staying unrealistically thin. Rather, it is all about feeling physically and mentally energetic. The answer to eating healthy food is very simple and time tested. Out body requires variety of nutrients and no one food can provide you with all. Poultry products, meat, whole grains, fresh vegetables, fruits should all be part of our daily food intake. If you keep your portion sizes reasonably small and avoid over indulgence, you are surely going to stay healthy.

Traditional diets rich in calories and low in fibre leads to obesity and heart disease, therefore, American and British people suffer from such problem more frequently. Whereas, Japanese always have low risk of heart problems because their diet generally includes fish and they consume highly fibrous food. Unfortunately the western fast food is gaining lot of popularity for various reasons and leading to lot of health problems. Increasing levels of obesity among the young childrens and adults is a big area of concern. Researchers have linked obesity among people due to high intake of fatty food and sugars in the diet. Even the corporate lifestyle is playing a negative role in increasing the various health problems that we encounter these days.
Keeping a check on your eating habits is very important for you to stay healthy and enjoy life to the fullest. So stay healthy and be happy!
