@barbaridadeguri
Hi
Actually, everyday, my mother-in-law makes roti. I only makes once in a while these days but yes, I have been making roti for almost 15 years now….so!
Bhavna di, I tried my luck but it seems they are taking shapes of States of india…:(
@smartdeb05
Hi
Great…I can’t make India shape! This recipe takes practise, so please be patience and try every single day. If it doesn’t still get into shape then roll and cut with something round. I use big plastic round box to cut my rice and corn rotis. Hope this helps. Enjoy!
How many times I do in various styles and different consistencies finally they turn into papads. Can u please tell me exact measurements of water and flour and dough consistency. What if oil is not added in flour??? What should be the thickness. Thank u
@kunalaravi
Hi
If you don’t add oil, then it will definitely get papad or will be very chewy. For 1 cup of wheat flour, add 2-3 tbsp of oil and nead very soft dough and keep about 10-15 mins covoered on counter. Now dough is so soft so you will have to dust with flours to roll it. Rest you can follow the video. And it also depend on flour as well. Hope this helps.
thnks for the recipe
@tasnuvat
Hi
You most welcome anytime.
Hi Bhavana,
Thanks for this receipe.
Do we have to keep rack on flame continuously( normal burner gas)?
i put tawa on 1 burner and rack on the other one.. but my roti sticks to rack .
I light burner for rack every time i put roti on it. do i have to put burner on low flam so that rack get heated properly? how i can avoid rotis sticking?
Also i would like to know the diff between chapati flour and wheat flour.
i use wheat flour to make rotis.
Thanks
Meghana

Hi
Chapati flour is wheat flour. So it doesn’t matter whether you use chapati flour or wheat flour. It is the same thing. Now, the way I make my rotis, if you watch even video again, you will get idea. I keep tava on the rack all the time. Keep temprature on medium when you bake roti on tava and when it’s time to rise roti on rack, take the tava off of rack and bring roti from tava to rack, keep high heat at this time so that your roti rise . So basically only one stove is used.
Thanks.. let me try it…
@SuperVeggieDelight cool this is the annswer i was looking for too.im going to buy the rack for pots made from stainless steel on ebay
Thank you for demonstrating the recipe so nicely
most people are not as detailed. and your chapati recipe is the best!

Hi
Many thanx and keep enjoying.
@Sweety12310
Hi
Sure, would love to hear how it comes out for you. Just little practise is needed…
right.. tried the same way as you said, by putting tava on rack, but still my roties are not rising.., still stucks to rack … i have seen your video at least 6 times.. and trying on the same track..
@Sweety12310
Hi
I am not sure what the problem is. What heat level you setting up. Looks like either your rack is getting too hot. Is your rack sturdy or delicate?
rack is sturdy…i kept heat at medium… while rising roti on rack keep it on high…
mine burned
@Sweety12310
Hi
What type of stove you have
@staciaxann
Hi
Watch video carefully and you might find out why…great luck
its a old one.. with 2 gas burner..same as prestige 2 gas burner stove…
@Sweety12310
Hu..not sure what’s going on then. Final thing you can try is just bake and rise rotis on tava. It might not rise much but it should be still soft if you don’t bake it longer and it should have only few specs. Specs should be just little golden brown. GReat luck!
